Grand Theft Auto IV: Technology And Commentary
When one mentions the great video games in history, practically no list would complete without mentioning Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA 4). When Rockstar Games dropped this one on us in 2008, it was a game-changer-literally-and not just because of how much fun we had playing it or what liberties the open-world genre could offer up from then onward. An Open-World Revolution
GTA IV's take on Liberty City, a gaudy and grimy tribute to New York was revolutionary at the time for an open-world. The scene: a bustling virtual metropolis, complete with day-to-night cycles (and vice-versa), changing weather conditions and a thriving populace. The way the city responded to what players did – whether through pedestrian reactions or changes in the environment itself – provided an immersion that was unrivaled for its time.
Euphoria physics engine – one of the main reasons why Red Dead Redemption 2 became such a massively realistic game is due to this Technology, it added an amazing level of realism while dealing with characters and objects.
